Urban Intimacies
"Urban Intimacies" is a street photography project that captures the essence of human relationships in urban settings, highlighting moments of affection like elderly couples holding hands, parents with children, groups of elderly friends, and mothers embracing infants. This work explores how emotional bonds manifest in public spaces, blending visual culture, sociology, and psychology to reveal the depth of connection amidst city life.
Through candid images, the project showcases enduring love, nurturing familial ties, the joy of longstanding friendships, and the protective closeness of maternal bonds. Drawing on Erving Goffman's interaction rituals and Henri Lefebvre's production of space, these photographs illustrate how intimate moments shape and are shaped by the urban environment, challenging its often impersonal nature.
Focusing on spontaneous interactions, "Urban Intimacies" underscores the universal need for connection, enriching the city's social fabric. The images document fleeting instances of affection and reflect broader emotional and social truths, making visible the persistent intimacy that thrives in public spaces.
